Bluntstone's vs. UGG's
I just came across an ad for Bluntstone's in NOW magazine. The price for a pair of basic Bluntstone's at Austrailian Boot was $179+tax.
Having tried both Bluntstone's and UGG's I have to say the UGG's blow Bluntstone away. I bought a pair of UGG Barlow's for $120 USD. Although the Blunstone lasted a long time it has no insolation. The UGG trademark is that it's sheepskin footwear. You can wear them without socks if you want. Where my feet were freezing out walking the dogs at -10 to -20 degrees these boots were dry and warm.

Why you should give Keihl a try
Rose gave me a Kiehl gift pack for Christmas that changed shaving forever. This included the Squadron Ultimate Brushless Shave Cream - Blue Eagle.
I had been using the standard Edge gel until I tried Kiehl shaving lotion. You only need a small amount to cover your facial hair. The difference is the shave. You can get a way closer shave. Your face feels clean and smooth after shaving. I strongly recommend giving it a trial. I know you won't be disappointed.

There's a Kiehl store on Queen West across from Caban.

24 Season premier
Who would believe it that it was possible to make 24 even better but they did. Jack doesn't work for CTU anymore. In fact, the entire staff you've come to know and love has been replaced. It works though with lots of new work drama and a compelling plot. Even the President has been replaced.
Look at what ICONOCAST e-newsletter had to say.
Sunday night Americans experienced two hours of a "typical" weekday morning in America's fight against terrorism. We freely admit that the season premiere of 24 sucked in a few Iconoites with its curiously addictive power. What's the hook? 24 takes a set of fears that currently grips many Americans and turns it into a minute-by-minute, edge-of-your-seat, can't-miss trip.
However real or fictionalized, 24 gives an insider's look at the super tech behind heightened surveillance and communication. (Whew. We feel safer now.) Then again, all that tech only works as well as those counter-terrorists' instincts. (Uh, did they get a good sleep last night?) The emotional rollercoaster continues: A mother dismisses her son's warning; a few minutes later she's murdered. In the world of 24 -- and by extension a terror-alerted America -- looks like paranoia isn't such a bad instinct after all. And the theme beating in the background: terrorism.
Is 24 exploiting our fears? Sure, just like mysteries and dramas have done for decades. Can your message grip consumers in a web of suspense and current events that'll make it impossible for them to resist tuning back in or visiting again? The next time you're exploring taglines and positioning, remember the power of a cliffhanger that speaks to the day.
Recommended for ad relief
Just came across this amazing web blog on advertising in the most recent issue of AIM Canada's e-newsletter.
I have so much respect for someone who puts so much effort into something they are passionate about. Mike Davidson works as Art Director and Manager of Media Product Development for ESPN/Disney and works out of the Seattle office. In his spare time he writes a blog called "Ad freak". I like the Virgin Atlantic web ad. It lets you customize a mullet and send it to a friend.

Alias season premier
Well after waiting to see another year of 24 and Alias they're finally back.
Alias Season 3 left us on a terrific cliff hanger.
Syd and Lauren fight. Lauren says that Syd still doesn't know the truth about her life. Lauren is about to finish Syd off when Vaughn shoots Lauren dead. Before she dies, Lauren tells Syd that the truth is in box 1062 in the Bank of Wittenberg. Syd and Vaughn kiss.
In Wittenberg, Syd opens the safe deposit box and finds top secret documents. She cries as she peruses files documenting her life, each one bearing Jack Bristow's signature. Jack enters and says she was never supposed to have found these
Tada! Season 4
Sydney returns to Washington after a failed mission, has a fall out with her boss, Director Chase and quits the CIA.
She proceeds to a secret location underneath the Washington subway system where she discovers her new life in a unit run by Sloan called APO. Director Chase is there and welcomes her. She explains Langley approved this black ops division only months ago. Dixon, Jack, Vaughn are all there - a team handpicked by Sloane.
Sloane explains that their covert unit is like the CIA's own SD-6, called APO - Authorized Personnel Only. Their first mission targets Russian scientist Yuri Kamarov, who wants to sell an isotope to an unknown buyer on a Belorussian train.
Review--
The season premier lacked surprise. After such an impressive finish in Season 3, Authorized Personnel Only (Episode 1-2) just like the name, failed to push beyond the comfort of its' boundaries. The name of the outfit was as lame as the plot. APO just sounds like a strip club not a rogue arm of the CIA. The familiar long sequences of Sydney struting her stuff, and wearing barely anything, walking into her next mission replaces a good storyline. Her and Vaughn hit the sheets right of the bat killing any tension they built up over the proceeding two seasons. And Nadia, Sydney's sister (and Sloan's daughter), joins APO as an agent making the plot even more ridiculous.
Rating: 5/10
Happy New Year. Welcome to 2005.
I've been absent for the last few weeks because we went away for Christmas to visit Roses sisters family in Denver. And, I got a new job.
